Abstract

I stopped for a weekend at Canyon Hot Springs, British Columbia. It was too far to continue on through the mountains to Yoho National Park, and the RV resort there made for a nice stay. The mountains here are much higher and steeper here than I am used to. Despite the smoke-hazed skies, it was a beautiful journey and stay.

I stopped for a weekend at Canyon Hot Springs Resort, British Columbia. It was too far to continue on through the mountains to Yoho National Park, and the RV resort there made for a nice stay. The mountains here are much higher and steeper here than I am used to.

I didn't do much here than wander around the campgrounds. The photos below hint at its beauty, despite the ever-present haze from BC wildfires.

Canyon Hot Springs Resort

Canyon Hot Springs Resort is run as a resort. They expect that guests will enjoy themselves, and pay resort prices, within its boundaries, not only for the stay, but for the "extras", such as the hot springs swimming pool. There's not much else nearby.

As a campground it's quite spacious, but there are no sewer hookups to the sites, requiring a visit to the dump station upon exiting.

The scenery, with the surrounding mountains, is quite beautiful. But that is available at any campground in the region.

If I pass that way again, I will consider it, but would look hard for a campground that provides better value for my dollar.

Next Stop

My next stop after leaving Canyon Hot Springs, British Columbia was Whispering Spruce Campgrounds in Golden, BC. That was the nearest campground I could find to the Yoho National Park and the Burgess Shale.
