I spent three days at Springfield, Missouri. in order to visit my sister and her husband. There we visited the Missouri Institute of Natural Science Museum, a small, but worthwhile attempt to preserve local fossils. We had a good visit, but that is not an appropriate subject matter for a public blog.

Springfield/Route 66 KOA
It's taken too long to get around to reporting this stay. My memories have faded, to the point that all I can say is that it was just another KOA, with the obligate nearby train track, and a strange resistance to building an internal map in my mind that let me forego the GPS. I'm going to have to improve my reporting processes, and get things written down earlier.

Points of Interest
The Missouri Institute of Natural Science was organized to support investigation of the Riverbluff Cave and the Pleistocene fossils found there. The associated museum is small, but it provides public access to those fossils, as well as others donated to its collection. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing us with a delightful afternoon.

I have added the photos of fossils that I took at the museum to my collection that you can access below. Here I only show a few that don't belong in that collection.

The Missouri Institute of Natural Science Museum has a small but worthwhile fossil collection, focusing on local discoveries. I took several of photos, but my fossil photo collection is under major redevelopment, and I would rather organize them once and for all than take time now for a temporary local collection. They will come, I promise you. It's only a matter of correcting a few bugs in the programming, thereby generating a few new bugs and correcting those, thereby ....
Onward
From Springfield I went to Neosho, Missouri to continue my trip down memory lane.
